Watch your Eyes in a Zoom call
Zoom calls can start a psychological research! Are your eyes roaming around when your head is not, in a Zoom call? Job interview?
I was in a Zoom call today, and as usual, people showed up in the video feeds with their bobbleheads floating over a fake background of some tall buildings in a cityscape, a palm tree in a light breeze on some sunny beach, or simply a background of their humble abode.
Midway through the call, suddenly I was drawn to Tim’s face, specifically his eyes. We were in a discussion and while another team member was talking, Tim’s eyes just kept moving around. They moved side to side mostly, but sometimes also moved up and down at an angle. Not that there was anything catching his attention there in the corners of the room where he sat. His facial expression indicated he was following the speaker closely, deep in thought.
Which immediately reminded me of a comment my partner told me a couple years back. As we walked down along a shopping center, I don’t remember what led to it, but she mentioned my eyes had this peculiar behavior where they glanced around even though my head was not turning along with the direction of my eyes. She found it a bit disturbing, as if I was surreptitiously checking out my surroundings, or herself, or some other women.
